Lost in Lost

December 21, 2009

Well the big snowstorm finally come up to Boston.  It was weird, because they didn’t make a big deal out of it at all.  We didn’t really know that it was coming until Saturday morning.  Then the snow started sometime after midnight and didn’t let up until after noon on Sunday.

I think we got about a foot.  Plus it was super light fluffy snow, and therefore super easy to shovel.  Here’s a few pictures of it.

That’s M helping our landlady out with her driveway.  Isn’t he so nice!  I think the Tennessee boy is learning how to deal with snow.  He was actually excited that it was snowing!  And when his family called last night he said “yeah, we only got a foot”  ONLY!  For them, they’d have school out for the week!  All of this considering, the first time he had ever shoveled snow (or is it snoveled show?) was when he visited me in February 2007!

Now you might ask, how productive were you on Sunday?  Well, we were productive in that we finished Lost Season 5!  So many questions, not many answers!  Now we have to wait for Season 6 to start.  We’ve never watched them on TV though.  Just through the DVD’s . . . it might be hard to wait each week for the next one.

We did end up going to the gym for an hour.  When I informed M that we were going to the gym, he decided that it was my secret motivation for cleaning the driveway.  I did my training session from the other day.  It was a super hard one with lots of arms.  Hopefully I raised my metabolism enough to negate all of the cookies I’ve been eating . . . . nah, probably not.

Our landlady dropped by some tasty treats:

Baklava and some cookie with nuts . . . all delicious!  The plate might look a bit empty, since it has been ravished by M and me (well mostly me).  So I brought it into work today.  There’s this magical thing that happens at an office . . if you put food out, it just disappears!  Especially since I work in an office of mostly men.  SCORE!

Onto finishing the three days of work before VACATION!  Running tonight (must remember to review some interval plans), PT session tomorrow, running Wednesday morning then off to the south!

I love bringing food to the office and watching it vanish. Even if it’s terrible … POOF!

Hi, I lover reading your blog, and haven’t ever commented before.
But it occurred to me that as I am planning a trip to Boston in mid-January, yo might have some tips for me on handling the winter weather (I am from Texas), and also any recommendations for sightseeing around Boston.

THANKS!! 🙂 Well, make sure to bring hats, mittens (my personal choice), scarf, and maybe boots if you will be walking around for any length of time. Also maybe some long johns if you’re doing some serious walking. Who knows if we’ll have snow. Watch out where you step (a puddle might be several inches deep and then you’d have a wet foot!) And watch out for the crazy Boston drivers! Just remember defensive driving! (That applies to any time of year)
Hmmm . . where will you be staying? There’s the typical Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market for a bit of shopping and food. Also the North End is great for any italian restaurant as well as Mike’s pastries (CANNOLIS!) If you have the time, go over to Cambridge and check out Hahvahd (Harvard). There are so many shops and cafes over there. And tons of young people.
      GOOD LUCK!

I can’t wait for Season 6! However, I haven’t decided if I’m going to watch it on TV or not. It’s so much better to watch the episodes in a row. If I wait from week to week, I tend to forget what happened in the last episode.

I might have missed this, but where are you going in the South for vacation?

M and I couldn’t really remember stuff from the earlier seasons. Like how Claire died or didn’t die . . . well, we’ll put it on the Tivo and see what happens.

We are going to Knoxville (Oak Ridge) TN and then to Atlanta for a bowl game. You’re in SC, right?
